Securities America Gets Serious About Banks
Oct. 7, 2010 – Bank Investment Consultant – Securities America has announced publicly that financial institution investment programs will be a top priority for the firm. Jim Nagengast, Securities America's CEO, says that Securities America's expertise in reporting and benchmarking technology, coaching programs and retirement distribution training will fill a void in current third-party marketer offerings. Securities America's efforts will be focused on smaller institutions with programs of one to 10 reps.
Securities America Lands $225M Firm
Oct. 1, 2010 – InvestmentNews – Securities America Inc. has picked up Verus Capital Partners LLC, a Scottsdale, Ariz., firm with $225 million in assets and 20 advisors. Verus founder Steve Bull says he expects to bring on eight to 10 new advisers each year, and that the firm now is in talks with seven to 10 potential recruits. About half of the new recruits hail from the independent-broker-dealer channel, and the other half come from wirehouses.

Sept. 1, 2010 – Investment Advisor – Jim Nagengast is named the new CEO for Securities America. Nagengast said that a priority will be focusing "even more on our fee-based platform." Moreover, he said, "If you want to be a leader in fee-based, you have to be a leader in retirement income distribution," an effort Securities America is supporting with its NextPhaseTM platform, advisor marketing materials and coaching program.
